Operational Definitions
The percentage of total household expenditure on housing, based on the data collected from the four Household Expenditure Surveys (HES) done in 1979/80, 1984/85, 1989/90 and 1994/95. The HES is conducted to collects up-to-date information on the consumption patterns of households in Hong Kong. Based on the HES results, a representative list of goods and services commonly purchased by an average household, together with their relative importance in the total expenditure of the household, can be derived.
